So a few days ago, I am in a little bar in NYC sitting at a table filled with women bloggers, most of who met on Twitter.
One of the women asks, "So Dave, what do you do?" I innocently answer, "I help people turn their passion into profits."
She replies, "Oh that's great! So you would teach me how to make money having sex?! That's my passion!"
Much laughter ensued as yours truly was kinda embarrassed but then went on to develop a "Heidi Fleiss" type of business model for this "over stimulated" blogger.'
(I won't tell you where the women had the conversation go after that, other than to say subject of sex was at the forefront. My girlfriend was oblivious to going ons. She was too busy chatting away with other women about... business.)
Well, I kinda forgot about that conversation, attributing to a bunch of women trying to embarrass and tease Dave.(Something almost all women enjoy doing to me, for some reason.)
But yesterday, I was talking with Randy, my right hand man, and he told me that he told the business owners the title of my book and asked them what they thought it was about. Guess what their answer was? You gotta it. They thought it had something to do with sex as well!
Now I'm wondering if I mis-titled the whole thing and believe me, what you call something makes all the difference in the world.
I'm thinking about putting a survey together and asking you and my other subscribers about the title of the book and getting some opinions. I'm serious!

My last blog post...
Okay, let's start with the important stuff - the Miami Dolphins won their second game in a row! As a long suffering Dolphins fan, I am euphoric! My kids, who had to spend Sunday afternoon at a sports bar so daddy could watch his game, are not quite as thrilled.
Now that we have the most vital topic out of the way, I need to tell you that this is going to be the last of my daily e-mails and blog posts - from davedee.com, that is. The next time you hear from me in this capacity, it'll be from our new "passion into profits" website.
My team and I have been working 'round the clock to get everything ready, and we are almost there. I'll be making the announcement as to when our new digs are ready, later this week.

The two main reasons businesses of any kind fail are:
1. They don't market and advertise. Sadly most new business owners spend their money and their time on everything other than marketing.
2. They don't market the business effectively. You can spend a ton of cashola on marketing and not get any results if you are not following a proven direct marketing system.
Take a look outside your door and make sure that there isn't spider getting ready to spin his web.

Secrets of a big, fluffy Teddy Bear
There is a new member of our family. Her name is Elly and she is a stuffed bear - from Build A Bear.
It is my daughter Gina's SIXTH such bear. SIX BEARS! When I was a kid, I'd was lucky if I had a bath towel stuffed with old newspapers formed in the shape of a bear. (Well, not quite!)
If you have not been to Build A Bear, it is a store in shopping malls where kids go in and can create, stuff and then dress their own bear. The concept is a thing of beauty on so many levels and is very well executed.
The price of the basic bear is pretty low but notice I said "basic" bear. There are what seems to be a zillion add on items for your to accessorize your bear. Some are inexpensive and some are crazy expensive - for a stuffed bear that is! By the time you leave the store, you might have well had a real child it costs so much!
The "experience" of Build A Bear is what sells the whole concept. The kids get to pick their own bear, a stuffed "heart" is put inside the bears' chest, the bear is given a name, the kid dresses it, they are given a birth certificate and the bear is put into a large carrying box in the shape of the house.
In addition to the regular mall traffic the store gets, they also host kids birthday parties. Think about all the positive financial ramifications of doing that!
There are tons of powerful marketing and profit lessons in my short little tale. Can you figure out what they all are? Come on! Put your thinkin' cap on and post your answers here. But, more importantly, figure out how you can put the Build A Bear strategies to work in your business.

Lies. Damn Lies.
Lies. Lies. Lies.
You've probably heard the gurus tell you how easy it is to rake in tens of thousands of dollars practically over night, and how you can have all kinds of "free time" and extra cash for traveling and shopping at your favorite store...
Just throw up a web site, add a few affiliate links, post to some forums and presto - you're in the dee-nero!
But the reality is this. If you want to succeed in your own business, whether it's you will have to work at making it successful. You have to make it your job to succeed. You must treat it as your job, not as your hobby.
Here are a few tips to help you get started.
STAY ORGANIZED
Set up folders in your email client.
You should set up a folder for each contact and keep important correspondence while deleting what you don't need .If you belong to membership sites that require passwords ,keep the "welcome" letters where you can find them.
Set up folders on your desktop.
If you download a lot of software, ebooks or PDF books from specific individuals simply name a folder on your desktop after the author or site owner. Then when you download something you can place it in their folder.
Make your own HTML home page.
For quick and easy access to all your important sites makeup an HTML page with hyperlinks to your most frequently used sites along with a brief explanation of each site. Keep it on your desktop for easy access.
STAY FOCUSED
Set aside a specific time for work.
During this time do not get distracted from doing only what needs to be accomplished for your business. Try to use the same time slot every day so you get into a routine and get used to the working mindset.
Set aside a work space.
Make sure that all your friends and family know that when you're in your work area you're off limits! No one's to bother you.
Finish one task before starting another.
As the old saying goes, "Put one foot in front of the other." Don't start working on something new until the first task is completely finished.
BE CONSISTENT
Work the ideas that "work."
When you find something that works well for you work it hard and get as much out of it as possible. If you're submitting articles to a certain site and they're paying dividends, keep feeding the cycle.
Learn from failure.
Don't get discouraged. Each failure's just a learning process. Use any failure to your advantage by taking the lesson and applying it to your next venture.
Test, test, and more test.
Always test headlines and ad copy. A small change can reap huge rewards.
With these few simple steps you will stay organized, stay focused, be consistent in your efforts and build a solid foundation on which you can build your passion into profits empire!
After all, you are the one who will ultimately determine the success or failure of your business!

Lessons from a flyin' fool...
Today I'm leaving sunny California and flying back to Atlanta. A lot of people ask me, "How do you do fly back and forth every other week?"
The truth is, I've done it so many times, it's almost like going to the corner store to buy a six pack of Coors Light. Almost.
But, as it is with most things, the flight is what I make it to be. If I focused on the over four hours on the plane, sitting next to a stranger and eating bad airline food, the trip would be miserable and I probably would be burnt out from flying so much.
Instead, I choose to focus on what my final destination is. Either I am going to see the love of my life or I am going to see the loves of my life, my children. Both of these scenarios make me happy...and sad. Sad because I am always leaving someone I love. But, again, if I focused on who I was leaving instead of who I was going to see, I would be sad most of the time.
There are people who will say, "Okay, Dave. I get what you're telling me. Focus on the positive, focus on your outcome. But, you have to admit, going through security at the airport and being on a plane for over four hours can't be fun."
While it's true you want to focus on your outcome, it's also important to enjoy the journey along the way. The question I asked myself was, "How can I make all this flying enjoyable and productive?"
My mind came up with a whole bunch of ideas. The three I decided on were:
1. Listen to music I love. To make it really enjoyable, I went out and bought a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphone. Yes, they are kind of pricey both SO worth it and I deserve it. (Don't you?)
2. Get caught up on reading. I bring the pile of newsletter and magazines that have accumulated and read 'em on the plane.
3. SLEEP! Woo hoo! I put on my headphones, put the seat back and in a matter of minutes I am out like a light. Ahhh...I can't wait for my nap later today!
Of course, this newsletter isn't about teaching you travel skills (although I could right a book about that.) It's about focusing on where you are going and onthe positive outcomes you want to achieve and, then, figuring out ways you can enjoy the journey.
As I said yesterday, what you focus on expands. What you choose to focus on determine your happiness or sadness and the overall quality of your life.
